The region of Marathon County in Wisconsin is struggling immensely as the area loss nearly 1,000 jobs in the past week.

The lost of jobs in Marathon County can also lead to other repercussions such as the loss of nearly 10 million dollars and hundred’s of more jobs. The SNE Enterprise Company expects that 550 employees in the Mosinee Plant will ultimately lose jobs starting in the month of February. The Company called Wausau Papers will also close the Brokaw Mill which will ultimately lead to 450 workers being laid off during the month of February as well.

The Director of MCDEVCO (Marathon County Economic Development Corporation) Dave Eckmann says that the organization is going to work closely with the workers so that they can transition to another job after being laid off. It ultimately becomes extremely important that that Marathon County has a plan to rescue the laid off workers or the surrounding area can fall deeper into a depression.

Many educators and leaders in the region will also assist the workers so that they can transition without any worries and repercussions. Many of the jobs that the newly laid off people will be able to transition to are in the manufacturing sector as well.

Dave Eckmann also elaborates on the point that workers are going to experience a shock from the loss of the job but they should move forward by getting a better education and even by retraining. The only sector that is experiencing job growth in the region is in metal fabricating and Dave recommends that all potential jobless people transition to that sector as soon as possible. It is also anticipated that thousands of jobs are going to be created in the sector of fabricating with salaries above $50,000 dollars.

The people and community of Marathon County need to work together.
